Solar Water Heater Tips

First, when using solar water heaters, if the water runs out but people haven't rinsed off, the water, then cold for several minutes, is used in a sink with cold water. The hot water, using the principle of buoyancy, will rise above the water tube, allowing for a bath. If the bathroom still has some hot water from the solar water heater, a few minutes of cold water followed by hot water can be enough for more than one person to wash.

Second, in northern autumn, winter, and spring, due to less rain, snow and dust cover the collector, significantly reducing the heating rate. Regular cleaning is necessary.

Third, based on weather forecasts, the water temperature can be maintained. On a sunny day, the water can be filled. Cloudy or winter weather can affect most water tanks; rain is a concern when preserving hot water.

Fourth, for evening baths, fill the water heater tank halfway if the water temperature is around 50-70°C to prevent significant heat loss (the smaller the water tank, the greater the heat loss). Also, adjust the amount of hot water according to the day's forecast: full tank on sunny days, then 1/3 full on rainy days.

Fifth, regulate the hot and cold water. The solar water heater temperature setting process is as follows: open the cold water tap, adjust the water flow accordingly, then open the hot water valve until you reach the desired bath temperature. Furthermore, weather conditions can be determined based on water experience; do not be careful when directing water towards the human body to avoid scalding.

Sixth, in areas with unstable water supply and water pressure, a water storage tank can be installed. Water can be stored in a water heater (2-3 units installed on the roof) and combined with solar water heaters. The bath water temperature can be adjusted to match the cold water supply. Additionally, when using a water storage tank, impurities can be removed from the water supply without tap water.

Seventh, wind measurements. As reliable connecting parts for solar water heaters, wind resistance depends primarily on how they are fixed. Using oil-based thread, or S-shaped wire, galvanized iron, and an extended expansion bolt fixing, before and after forming a figure-eight shape, ensures good wind performance. Furthermore, in strong winds in coastal areas, changing the support and reflector structure, or removing the reflector altogether, with a fixed rope and torsion bar, is even better.
